02. How often should you wash your curls?

A frequently asked curly hair community question is how often to wash your curls. The answer is 'it depends...'.  Curly hair, just like any other hair type, requires regular washing, however, optimal frequency varies as everyone's curls, lifestyle and routines are different. It's important to determine what works best for YOU and YOUR curls. This happens best through trial and error.  That said, if you live a physically active lifestyle or sweat more, you'll likely need to wash your curls more frequently than a less active person. At a minimum, we recommend cleansing your hair at least once a week to remove product build up and to keep your hair clean and fresh. Esteem Maison's cleansing cream is perfect for cleansing your curls, detangling, and removing dirt and product build up. It's suitable for once or twice a week use, again depending on your curls' specific needs. Check out the cleansing cream here! It's worth noting that if you need to wash your hair more than twice a week, on the additional days it is okay to wash with water only - no cleanser, then style as usual.
